AdultFriendFinder A new way to be ripped off by Adultfriendfinder Sunnyvale, California
10th of May, 2011 by User266078
You have got to hand it to Adultfriendfinder as they have found a new way to scam their customers. After tiring of being ripped off unknowingly by AFF I decided last year to change the auto-renewal of my membership to OFF. This way I can decide if and when I want to be a financial member and not allow myself to fall prey to AFF and their very sticky fingers. I had not used my acct on AFF for a few months, and yesterday ( May 10, 2011 ) decided to check it after receiving being notified that I had received a message. For some unknown reason I decided to check my membership status and lo and behold, my auto-renewal had been set at ON. I know for a fact that I changed the setting to OFF last year because I had some charges on my credit card for membership renewals that I did not knowingly make. I emailed AFF about this blatant attempt at theft and fraud and they told me the following. I was furious to be told about this " default setting ". Nowhere on the website does it mention that a " default setting " will change a very important setting that you have taken the time to make. How the f*ck can they change how and when a person wants to be charged? How the f*ck can they change a members auto-renewal WITHOUT telling them that they changed it without their knowledge? The member obviously wants power over when he is charged, so how f*cking dare AFF decide to alter this power the member obviously thinks he has? My auto-renewal setting was changed and not once did I receive an email telling me that this had changed, or was changed by AFF. All of these questions can be answered very simply. AFF are attempting to defraud their customers financially without the customers knowledge. Most of the time the first way a customer finds out that his auto-renewal is now ON is when he checks his credit card. This is f*cking bullsh*t.

It happened to me also. I double checked a few days before and made sure it was turned off. Then I get charged. They are snakes, how much momey are they pulling in from people who don't check over their credit card bills? Bet it's thousands a month.

I have just had the same thing happen to me. I was also charged for a months worth of "Open The Door" which allows standard members to contact you. I didn't authorise that either. These people are THIEVES, plain and simple and it's about time they were investigated properly, and brought to book for this blatantly fraudulent behaviour.

They not only changed my autoenewal setting to off, they ignored two attempts to close the account weeks earlier. I properly closed my account, after declining a free extension, obtained the "sorry to see you leave screen", only to discover the next day that it was not closed. I closed it again, And then discovered they still left it open and changed my autorenewal to "on" This was unquestionably and without doubt an act by one of their employees. If no one takes them to court and has jail time imposed on their employees for fraud, it's likely the practice will continue.
