I just stumbled across former posts about Adeli Tollen on this site and agree 100% with everything they wrote. All true...and more. So here is my pro-bono for this year... Some things not mentioned previously include Mani instructing other licensed patent attorneys to sign for patent applications drafted by other lawyers unregistered under PTO, and without allowing them to read any of it, while Mani wouldn't even sign it himself. When the claims of a parent patent aplication is blatently wrong and the child app is being prosecuted, Mani will force some illogical reason to continue the work - maybe for fees, who knows. Work conditions are horrible, no need to expand on what has been previously stated. Mani promises raises at first, berates workers and pushes more hours to bill, yet shows a severely undercut 'billable' report to employees. It's a $60k/yr salary job just to get around overtime laws...but I don't know how he gets away with constantly pushing 80hrs/week and not getting sued in class-action for back pay like the salaried software programers did several years back. If you like beauty pageants, you'll love the office dynamics there. Mani likes to pick the biggest moron attorney working there, sweating his bony behind for what works out to be less than $15/hour for post-graduate employment, and call him his 'Superstar', shower with praises in front of everyone every chance he gets. It's ALL good until the tragic hero realizes he can't cash in the truckloads of praise for anything of material value. Anyone that wakes up from this delusion instantly quits, forgoing all of Mani's elusive promises. If you don't conform, doubt the system, or question any practices, you are brought in Mani's office for a private and personal battering of your spirit. If your spirit is still left standing, you will be brought back to the general population of prison b*tches and Mani will continue his systematic personal attacks there. Yes, Mani drops the F-bomb ever 2-3 sentences when he talks to his employees; yes, Mani will blame you for everything that goes wrong and question why you can't complete impossible tasks he assigns; yes, Mani will ask you sexually explicit questions when he is privately chewing you out in his office just to see if you have an offensive reaction; yes, Mani will ALWAYS show you way less billable hours than what you could ever imagine as your lowest estimate...YES, all these things sound bad, but he's still in business for all these years. If he can sell complex patents signed by new grad attorneys, ghost written by 'staff scientiests' and sell a boosted ego to a guy putting in +80hrs/week on a $60K/yr salary, then YES, that does explain why he's still in business. [Yes, this report is written by myself, I worked there as an attorney and experienced it all first-hand. No, I am not any of the the 'moron', 'delusional' or 'prison b*tches' mentioned above...that honor specially goes to a certain droopy-eyed, over-bite, hick-looking-hair-part-in-the-middle-Associate-Attorney who always thought he was smarter than everyone...I sure hope everyone at the firm reads this...HaHa.] |
