AAMCO Transmission
Aamco Transmission Aamco Wants me to bring my truck back for the 8th time! West Palm Beach, Florida
20th of Jun, 2011 by User890597
After the Ford dealer telling me the transmission was gone on my Mercury truck (and wanted 5K), I decided to have Aamco pick up my truck (from next door) to replace/rebuild the transmission. This started back in Sep 2010. I have taken my truck back 7 times now. They say they have rebuilt the transmission for a second time. They say they have put in the propriatary transmission fluid that Ford recommends yet I still have the same problem as day one when THEY diagnosed as a bad transmission. They said it was a bad Throttle Position Sensor - I changed that - still same problem. I have spent over $500.00 (in addition to the $31/3200 I paid intially for the 1st repair) for rental cars and misc parts they said was still causing the problem. I took it to 2 different auto repair shops, one the dealer and 2 - a very well respected transmission shop in the area (God I wish I knew of Vic's Transmission Services before taking to Aamco). Both say the 5 and 6 gears in the transmission are not working properly. When I take teh truck out of overdrive, I have no problem (Overdrive is the 6th gear in this truck). I have explained this to Sam the owner of Aamco and all he wants to do is have me keep bringing in the truck for more diagnoses. He will not pay for any rentals. He is very inflexible. I cannot continue to rent cars at a $150.00 per week while they are on a search mission. I have called coporate and the only response I get is that each Aamco shop is independantly owned & operated and is up to the owner how they want to handle. They will not refund me any money. I do not feel comfortable taking my truck back there for the 8th time. We've had tense conversations due their inability to correct the problem. I am afraid they will only have me keep replacing parts (for which they say they will not pay for). Today I needed to get out of the way of a jerk on the road. When I pressed the gas to get out of his/her way, the tranny slipped again and almost got creamed. I do not feel safe driving the truck now. Anybody have any suggestions besides writing letters to the Better Business Bureau, State's Attroney Office, Dept of Justice Fraud Department? Anybody have sucess with taking them to court?
