We hired AA Rite Way Roofing to do a complete tear off of 3 layers ofcomp roofing on our old 1940 home. In addition to the removal and
replacement, they did our gutters and as part of that process, we
requested that a small area of the roof that was flat and had been
causing us problems to be re-constructed to eliminate the torch down
mess and the ongoing maintenance that was nickel and dimming us to death. We are not professional roofers but we we thought they had done the
work that the contract specified as there did not appear to be any more
black tar roof and shingles now covered the area. Low and behold
we have been having problems with leakage and they have been out 5 or 6
times now in an attempt to repair the issue. The last repair was done
in December of 2010 and guess what, they took off the shingles and we
now have torch down flat roof again.
We entered into a contract
with them that stated "do construction to add peak to flat area @
eliminate torch down area." We are right back where we started before
having the new roof put on. We are going to end up being nickeled and dimmed to death with ongoing repairs. The torch down gets cold in the winter
months and shrinks, it heats and bubbles in the summer and then when it
gets cold again, it cracks and leaks.
Mike Wolfe, Owner writes a letter to us
after we complained about this issue. Requesting that they honor the contract and fix the roof. This is what he has to say:
"We installed your roof according to contract. Sometimes lower pitched
roofs are a little tricky. Apparently yours was one of them. Every
time you called, we came out to honor our warranty. After several times out we sent out our flat roof expert, and he decided we should just go
back to torchdown to insure no more leakage.....There is no reason to
undo a perfectly good roof, since you have stated its not leaking.
This is so wrong on so many levels. We have contacted the Construction
Contractors Board, will be filing a complaint even though it has been
several years. We also have had another roofing company come out and
look at the roof, the contract and we will be having the work done to
restore it to a non-torch down area. We will sue AA Rite Way Roofing
for all out of pocket expenses involved in this process.
This is not how you do business. This is not how you obtain
referrals for future business. Customer Service is the name of the game and honoring your word (contract) is enforceable in a court of law.
I will write as many negative reviews about this company as is
possible so that nobody else will have to endure the same situation,
stress and frustration with trying to get the job done right.
If you are considering using this company. BEWARE! You will regret it in the long run.
