A-1 Midwest Enterprises is a disreputable company. They seemed very nice on the phone, so I didn't check their BBB rating to find out that it is actually "F"! First, they attempt to entrap customers into legal actions. On the telephone, they claimed many times that we would be able to pay the bill over time with no finance charges. However, the invoices contained a finance charge and severe written warnings about placing liens on property and legal fees. On the phone P.J. told me to disregard these written warnings, and to wait for a phone call from Woody to discuss the bill. Finally, when no phone call came, in good faith I paid most of the bill. However, a new invoice came with an even more severe warning of filing a lien and legal fees if we did not pay the rest within one week. Second, they billed for a part replacement without showing that anything was actually replaced. (They even charged $2 each for screws, believe it or not.) We explained to them that it seemed there must have been a clerical error where our bill may also be mixed with someone elses. At no point did Woody tell me that he was replacing any part, and at no point did I see Woody replace a part. It is certainly possible that there was a damaged part replaced, but this was not authorized or even discussedwith me standing right there. Third, Woody also spent a lot of time socializing during his visit, and claimed that time wouldn't be charged, but it was charged at $90/hour, and he did not adjust the bill for this even after promising he would. While he was socializing, I said to Woody several times that I wanted to be mindful of his time, particularly at $90/hour on the clockand he insisted this time wasnt on the clock, not to worry, and that he would adjust the bill accordingly. When I pressed this, he issued a customer good will credit for 9 minutes. Paying the dishonest portion of the bill seemed better for my family than becoming a part of some kind of legal action that they were eager to initiate. But I hope no one else is harmed this way. Stay away!
