Called on a Thursday to schedule a Saturday move. Was told that a crew would be available in the early afternoon as they had a move in the morning and that they would be done around 1pm. I scheduled the company for 2pm to be at a 3rd party's home in order to pick up a bedroom set I purchased.
The crew did not arrive at 2pm or even 2:20pm. I had to call the office and was told that the company never schedules a time to be at a residence but only gives a window. I asked when the crew could be at the residence then and was told they were about an hour late but that they would call me when they were 20 minutes away from the residence. The crew never called me but the homeowner of the residence had to call me when the crew arrived at 4:30. Late again.
I scheduled the crew for two hours but the move took 3 hours & only involved disassembling a bed and moving the bed, 2 nightstands, a dresser & a chest of drawers. I was not told about the hour drive time the company charges for nor was I told about the $10 fuel surcharge. When the movers finally finished I asked for the total and they added the extra hour so the charge was for 4 hours and then they added the $10 fuel surcharge.
After they left my residence I went out several hours later to move some bikes back into my porch area that I had moved so that they could have more room. I noticed the mailbox laying on the ground and the pole bent. The moving truck had been parked about 1 foot from the mailbox and right in front of it on the street. I live in a quite neighborhood and it was Saturday evening with no traffic. In ten years nothing ever happened to my mailbox but only on the evening that the moving truck parked in front of it and when they backed into the driveway to turnaround when they left.
I called the company on the following Monday and the "manager" essentially laughed at me saying that there "was a 2 and half hour window between when the truck left and when I noticed the mailbox laying on the ground" so he couldn't take responsibility for it. Ok, since he refused to take responsibility for I will ensure that 3 Guys Moving will receive at least $1,000 in negative marketing for the $150 it is going to take me to repair and replace the mailbox, the bracket and the pole.
Thanks for the crummy but expensive service. It basically cost me $410 for the move plus the $150 to fix the mailbox just for a bedroom set. This company seems economical but it won't be after the crew finishes with the move and adds on all the fees and the window time. Hire them at your own risk.
