A man from a company called 24 7 PC Care cold called me stating they were responding to Microsoft error reports from my home pc. They said that my computer wasn't running properly because it had Malware issues. With me on the phone he accessed my pc and showed me the problems. Up until this point I had not been informed that there was a cost for this. When he said the cost was 82 I said that I hadn't realised the cost and therefore I didn't want it. He accused me of being a liar and said that I had agreed to pay and that I was wasting his time (despite the fact that he had called me in the first place). He then proceeded to remove the software he had installed following my request. However, when this process was completed my computer no longer functioned correctly and as an amateur pc user I was unable to rectify it myself. I am convinced that because I refused to pay they did something to my computer to ensure it would not operate. As a result I was pressured to accept the software and pay the money in order to have my computer back the way it was before he messed around with it. Having seen other reports on this site about the same thing I now realise that it was a scam but I remain 82 out of pocket and very angry. I am convinced that my slow running pc is a result of this issue. |

I had the same thing happen and when I went to turn my computer on the next day... It had fatal errors and could not be fixed. I still receive about 7-15 of these calls a week even though my number is listed on the don't call register. |

I too, have been getting a deluge of these aggravating calls: 3-5 per week. I am also on the 'do not call' register--a lot of good that has done~ ! I never use a PC! Never have, never could have done any of the BS crap that this the Indian Accented gentleman on the phone told me had lead his company to call me with offer of help to rescue me when I asked how he happened upon my #, ETC.
This is when he vanishes from the call. Not a Windows user? wasting his time now.
I get these calls. And I get other annoying scammer calls with similar behavior from the callers as well as repeatedly hearing from the same gentleman (I say that to resist less polite words) who is either the same guy or has the same accent ???? What is the strategy that they have over our USA watch dog groups/ no call registries, etc. ??? They are remarkably resilient and hungry to screw people to continue making their money. |
