We have been an owner at Celebration World Resort in Kissimmee, FL since 2000 and have used our points every year to exchange for 3-4 weeks of vacation all over the US and Great Britian. With the sale of Celebration to Festiva Hospitality Group, that will all be coming to an end. In Oct. 2000, we purchased an Executive 2 bedroom with a 1 bedroom lockout, under the weeks program. We were told we could use the unit for 1 week, or divide it up and use it for 2 or 3 weeks. This worked great for us. Then in 2005 they told us they were switching over to points, which would give us more flexibility, which it did, as we now could usually get 4 weeks the additional points we bought at that time. At that time we were receiving 133,500 point, which is equivalent to the number of RCI points allotted for a 3 bedroom unit. Oct. 2011 we received a letter from Festiva telling they had purchased Celebration World Resort, and as owners we were now a member of their family, and told of improvements they planned to make. The next letter that came June 15, 2012 again welcomed us to the family and told of changes made, particularly changing the name "to better reflect the high standards of the Festiva brand". It went on to say they will now be renting out unreserved and unsold units. Then comes the bomb in a letter they couldn't bother to date. Through an audit of their accounts they found some owners have been allocated more points than what Festiva thinks they deserve, or that they were entitled to receive and that your account might be one of them. They didn't even have the guts to tell us how many points we would receive. So, I called Festiva, I Called Celebration World Resort, I called RCI, who were the most helpful. The other two just kept passing the buck every time I called. The end of the story is, we only have been allotted 36,300, not even enough to stay in the smallest unit at our own resort!!! We have all the deeds and documents for our 3 bedroom unite and additional points purchased. What a RIP-OFF!!! |
