I visited Attorney Tarry Beasley in early 2010 to adjust Child support with my ex wife , after her attorney obtained a stay on the modification. I paid Tarry , a $1000.00 Retainer Fee and informed him at that time if he went over to please call me. He told me that he was going to schedule a meeting with my ex wife's attorney to which I stated,, I am not willing to agree to anything she wants to change in the Parenting plan just to adjust child support. After that he went and met with my ex wife's attorney and subsequently the next billing period,, the charges had amassed to an additional $1500.00 to the retainer fee of $1000.00. When questioned about the bill,, he told me that he spent 3 hrs at $250.00 per hour discussing what he termed as "This , That and the Other" which amounted to listening to my ex wife's attorney describe her wish list to my attorney for 3 hours. when all I requested was child support modification. We finally made it to a hearing in August of 2010, and then Mr Beasley ducked in to a room with my ex wife's attorney and seemed to be kicking back and laughing as if he was with an old friend. Mr Beasley was very unprepared on the day of our hearing.. One would think if he met for 3 hrs with my ex wife's attorney that he would have some kind of idea of what Mr Philips was going to rip me on while on the witness stand. I was cross examined on the witness stand by Bucky Philip, who is my ex wife's attorney for over an hour while Mr Philip scrutinized my tax return and my mileage deductions and then being accused of tax fraud without any justification whatsoever. My ex wife gets on the stand and Mr Beasley seems to become tongue tied and all he does is ask her how much she made last year and then no further questions. Mr Beasley then started making agreements that I told him I strongly disagreed with during the middle of the hearing. In retrospect I should have fired him on the spot and walked out of that hearing. He now is sending me a bill for an additional $1,000.00 to bring the total payment for child support modifcation to $3500.00. Mr Beasley claims to be a christian ,, I wonder what Jesus would think of how he treats his clients. |
